The Mushibugyo (or the "Insect Magistrate") is an organization dedicated to investigating, countering, and exterminating Insects. It was created to protect Edo from the giant insects that began appearing ten years prior to the series and is currently led by Shogun Yoshimune Tokugawa. The Mushibugyo is composed of three divisions: The first is the City Patrol, tasked with defending the town itself from insects; the second is the Samurai House Patrol, who're in charge of police and public safety; and the last is the Shrine and Temple Patrol, tasked with protecting the various religious sites around Edo.
Background[]
In the 6th year of the Kyouhou era (or the year 1721), Tokugawa Yoshimune, the 8th Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan, had a "suggestion box" made so those in charge would know what the average person wanted. One of the many suggestions was the creation of a group to protect the people from the insects and thus the Mushibugyo patrol was born.
Group Strength[]
Considering that only the best of the best from the around the nation are welcomed into the organization, the Mushibugyo are quite powerful.
