Okiku is the mother of Shungiku.
Appearance[]
Okiku had a short brown hari while wearing a light blue kimono.
Personality[]
Okiku was shown that she was a kind and thoughtful person who thinks killing was wrong and loved her son very much, despite him stealing, but was upset when he started killing people to avenge her death.
History[]
Plot[]
She is briefly shown interrupting a quarrel between Shungiku and his father as he belittles his child for vowing not to kill. She expresses her wish for the young Shungiku to never kill a human being.
Shungiku returns home one rainy night with a flower in his hand, possibly as a gift to Okiku only to witness her lying motionless, covered in blood with his father standing above her dead body wielding a sword.
Presuming his father having murdered his mother, Shungiku in a fit of rage proceeds to attack him, ignoring the rest of the troupe that tries in vain to tell him it wasn't his father who attacked Okiku.
As Shungiku slays his former comrades, his father escapes. Okiku is shown too briefly witness her son breaking his promise to never kill, as she comments on it with the last ounce of her strength before dying.
It is later revealed by Kotori that Okiku was in fact murdered by a member of the Mushikari.

Okiku, being an ordinary human, possesses no superhuman abilities.

The flower chrysanthemum is called kiku in Japanese. Presumably, the same flower Shungiku was bringing his mother on the same night she died.
